Social Entrepreneurship Discussion with Joan Hornig at the Columbia University Club

We had a wonderful evening at the Columbia Club May 14th, where Ivy Untapped members and Columbia University alumni had the opportunity to connect with Joan Hornig, a renowned philanthropist and social entrepreneur. The event was hosted by the Mid-Career Alumni Committee in partnership with Ivy Untapped and consisted of a roundtable dinner discussion.

Joan received her B.A. in Fine Arts from Harvard College and her M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and started her career at Wall Street. She told us about her love for jewelry making and how it led to the development of her company. Always the philanthropist, Joan initially started selling her designs to her friends and donating the proceeds to various charities. From there on, Joan started her company, which donates 100% of the profits made on the jewelry sold to the charity of the consumer's choice.

In this intimate setting, Ivy Untapped members and Columbia University alumni were able to gain exclusive insight from Joan's comprehensive experience into social entrepreneurhsip and the fine jewelry industry.
